Jumping is a basic locomotor movement skill used in all forms of sport and activities.  It is important to understand the basic skill principles of jumping and landing before training to increase height and distance.  To improve the jumping ability for middle and high school students they should perform 100+ jumps per training session, 2-3 times per week.  Jumping is an intense lower body exercise so extra caution must be used to avoid overtraining the student.  Landing with correct form is a key element and will help prevent injury.  Perfecting this phase of the skill is very important.
